Hammurabi

Hammurabi was a very famous king of Mesopotamia. He was the 6th king of the Amorite Dynasty. Hammurabi took to the throne after the death of his father, Sin-muballit. Hammurabi was a very normal king until the 30th year of his reign. That was when he defeated his southern neighbor, Rim-Sin of Larsa. This event caused Hammurabi to become master of all southern Babylonia. There is no information on the events that led to this conflict, but one thing is for certain. Hammurabi and Rim-sin had been on friendly terms just 2 years before this happened! During this campaign, the 2 kingdoms, Mari and Eshunna, were Hammurabi’s allies. But both Mari and Eshunna were conquered by Hammurabi in the next seven years. Hammurabi is most famous for creating the first set of laws. These laws were called the Code of Hammurabi. All these accomplishments were great, but Hammurabi’s empire was not as great as those before such as the empires that belonged to Naram-Sin of Akkad or Ur-Nammu of Ur. Hammurabi’s empire did not last long either, due to the death of his son, Samsu-Iluna. At the end of Hammurabi’s reign, the territory of Babylon was little more than it was when Hammurabi took to the throne.

This is a essay on Hammurabi. Hammurabi was a king of of the ancient civilization Mesopotamia. I did this essay for my history class. We were learning about Mesopotamia and the teacher told us to do a project on 1 topic of mesopotamia. We were able to work in groups of 2 or 3. I paired up with my friends Steve and Danny. We each did 1 king. Steve did Nebuchadnezzar, Danny did Antiochus, I did Hammurabi.  This might be even more confusing than my science essay. Hope you like it. Please help point out typos. I know I often leave out a word or use the wrong phrase, word, grammar, etc.
