What is DigRF? 2009-09-22 22:12

The DigRF digital interface standard defines an efficient physical interconnection between baseband and RF integrated circuits for digital cellular terminals. It ensures that ICs complying with the standard can, when correctly configured, always communicate with each other, leading to an open market in digital terminal components. The standard places as few constraints on the internal architectures of the ICs themselves as possible, to allow suppliers space for competition based on innovation and efficient design.

The standard currently addresses 2.5G GSM (E-GPRS to slot class 12); work is in progress on a new version of the standard covering 3G. It has been defined and published by the Digital Interface Working Group, an informal co-operation between the companies.

The standard is made freely available to all who wish to use it (but please read and note the sections defining the IP position); it may be downloaded via the link. It is the responsibility of each user to ensure that they are working to the latest issue of the standard.
