April Cockpit SoC Dark Horse Emerges! Rockchip Surges 91.2%, Breaking into Top 3

by zuosichanyan·July 1, 2026

1. Overall Market: Cockpit SoC Installations Drop 9.3% YoY in April 2026

According to statistics from ZuoSi Auto Research based on new vehicle sales in the Chinese market (excluding imported vehicles), the standard installation volume of cockpit domain controller SoCs for new passenger vehicles in China reached 826,000 units in April 2026, a year-on-year decline of 9.3%. This was mainly affected by the decline in installation volumes from leading enterprises such as BYD, Geely, and Tesla (cockpit domain controllers are characterized by integrating the instrument cluster and the center console into a single controller, excluding standalone instrument clusters and standalone IVI cockpit center consoles).

In terms of price segment structure, the 100,000 to 200,000 RMB range dominates, accounting for 50.4% in April, basically flat compared to the same period last year. The market share for vehicles priced below 100,000 RMB increased significantly, reaching 10.8%, up 4.5 percentage points year-on-year, mainly driven by related models from BYD.

2. Supplier Landscape: Rockchip Breaks into Top 3 for the First Time; MediaTek Holds Firm at Second

Looking at the competitive landscape of suppliers, the top tier has seen significant changes, with domestic manufacturers showing strong momentum:

Qualcomm continues to lead, but its market share has declined. In April, its installation volume reached 580,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 16.1%, with a market share of 70.2%, down 5.7 percentage points from the same period last year;

MediaTek holds firmly at second place, with an installation volume of 62,000 units, a year-on-year growth of 66.7%. Its market share increased to 7.6% (up 3.4 percentage points year-on-year and 1.1 percentage points month-on-month), mainly benefiting from the large-scale adoption of its three chips: MT8675, MT8676, and MT8678;

Rockchip has made a strong breakthrough, breaking into the top three. In April, its installation volume reached 46,000 units, a substantial year-on-year increase of 91.2%, with a market share of 5.6%, up 2.9 percentage points year-on-year and 0.5 percentage points month-on-month.

The competitive landscape across different price segments is as follows:

(1) 0-100,000 RMB Market: MediaTek, SemiDrive, and ECARX Rise Rapidly, Capturing Over 20% Market Share

In April, Qualcomm still dominated with a market share of 68.8%, but its share decreased by nearly 10 percentage points compared to the same period last year. During the same period, MediaTek, SemiDrive, and ECARX continuously expanded their advantages, capturing 24.3% of this market, a significant increase of 21.2 percentage points year-on-year.

(2) 100,000-200,000 RMB Market: Rockchip's Market Share Breaks 10% for the First Time, Jumping to Second

Rockchip's market share exceeded 10% for the first time, up 6.5 percentage points year-on-year, jumping to second place.

MediaTek holds firmly at third place, with its installation volume surging 333.7% year-on-year to 37,000 units, and its market share increasing to 9.0% (up 7.1 percentage points year-on-year and 0.6 percentage points month-on-month).

(3) 200,000-350,000 RMB Market: Intensified Competition, HiSilicon and MediaTek Show Significant Growth

Qualcomm leads with a market share of 68.8%. HiSilicon and MediaTek continue to push forward, reaching market shares of 9.8% and 6.7% respectively, up 0.8 and 0.7 percentage points year-on-year.

(4) Above 350,000 RMB Market: Qualcomm Expands Advantage, Market Share Exceeds 85%

Qualcomm has further expanded its advantage, with a market share as high as 85.9%, up 7.6 percentage points year-on-year, mainly benefiting from the large-scale installation of the Qualcomm 8295 (including the performance version) chip.

3. Chip Rankings: Rockchip RK3588M Breaks into Top 5, Becoming a Core Domestic Engine

In April, four of the top five cockpit domain controller SoC chips in China were from Qualcomm, with the Qualcomm 8155 and Qualcomm 8295 (including the performance version) accounting for a combined market share of over 50%.

Relying on an installation volume of 46,000 units (a substantial year-on-year increase of 91.2%) and a market share of 5.6% (up 2.9 percentage points year-on-year and 0.5 percentage points month-on-month), Rockchip's RK3588M ranked fourth for the first time, becoming the only domestic chip in the top five. This is mainly attributed to its continuous deep cultivation in the domestic market and the rapid installation in cooperative vehicle models.
