Beijing's Commercial Aerospace "Little Giant" Sets Its Sights on Shanghai

Beijing Sixiang Aishu Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "Sixiang Technology"), a commercial aerospace remote sensing enterprise, has recently completed a new round of strategic deployment in Shanghai.

Business registration information shows that Shanghai Sixiang Canxing Technology Co., Ltd. was registered and established in mid-August, with a registered capital of CNY 30 million. It is 100% wholly owned by Sixiang Technology, with the company's founder Xi Xiaofei serving as the legal representative. The registered address is located in Songjiang District, Shanghai.

In late August, the Sixiang Technology System Engineering R&D Center (DEX Lab) was officially launched in Dongjing Town. As a crucial platform for Sixiang Technology to delve into on-orbit technology and position itself in the innovative track of commercial aerospace, the launch of DEX Lab marks a critical leap in the enterprise's technological R&D capabilities.

Founded in 2017, Sixiang Technology is a representative enterprise in the remote sensing satellite application field of the commercial aerospace industry chain. It is recognized as a national-level Specialized and Sophisticated "Little Giant" enterprise and a High-Tech Enterprise.

The company's core focus lies in commercial satellite remote sensing and the intelligent application of spatiotemporal data. Its business encompasses technology development, satellite TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command), constellation operation management, multi-source data fusion, and AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithm R&D. It possesses core technologies such as SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) remote sensing and satellite system planning.

According to its official website, Sixiang Technology primarily provides customized spatial information platform construction and continuous spatiotemporal big data application services for relevant departments in emergency management, ecological environment, agriculture and rural affairs, water conservancy, natural resources, urban management, transportation, and energy and minerals. This helps management departments at all levels achieve digitalized and intelligent government administration. Meanwhile, based on its independently developed remote sensing financial index products and services such as smart insurance and smart credit, the company provides rapid and precise data support for enterprise users in financial investment, insurance, and banking.

After years of deep cultivation, the company has established affiliated enterprises and infrastructure bases in Shanghai, Chengdu, Ningbo, Zhuhai, and other regions. Its service network covers the entire country, and its cooperative clients include government departments in multiple regions, large central state-owned enterprises, financial institutions, and industry-leading enterprises.

The company's core expert team members all come from relevant technical institutions within the national system. They have accumulated decades of technical experience and practical experience in large-scale international special projects in fields such as overall satellite design, space-ground operation, comprehensive processing and application of multi-source satellite data. The company has independently built a "SAR + multispectral + infrared multi-source remote sensing satellite constellation and space-ground integrated system." The first batch of three satellites was successfully launched in July 2023 and has been providing regular business services. The first phase of the constellation, consisting of 48 remote sensing satellites, is steadily advancing in research, development, and construction, possessing the capability for all-weather, all-day, and high-precision dynamic surface monitoring.

For a long time, Sixiang Technology has been deeply engaged in the spatial intelligent information application track, accumulating a solid technological foundation and rich project implementation experience in fields such as satellite ground data processing, intelligent parsing algorithms, and spatial scenario applications. Given the rapid evolution of commercial aerospace toward on-orbit intelligence and integration, the traditional "space-ground separation" R&D model can no longer adapt to the high-precision and high-timeliness requirements of space applications, becoming a core bottleneck for technological upgrading in the industry.

The DEX Lab established in Songjiang this time is a specialized R&D platform built to meet the future development needs of commercial aerospace. Relying on this R&D center, Sixiang Technology will further carry out on-orbit algorithm R&D, satellite engineering system optimization, and space-ground integration technology verification, promoting the formation of a complete technological closed loop from algorithm R&D and engineering implementation to on-orbit verification.

This R&D layout closely echoes its recently released constellation expansion plan. On August 19 this year, at the 10th-anniversary celebration and the Skysight satellite constellation launch event, Sixiang Technology officially unveiled the strategic blueprint for the Skysight constellation, which consists of 96 low-orbit intelligent remote sensing satellites, as well as the R&D, launch, and implementation plan for the first phase of 48 satellites.

The constellation is fully equipped with SAR, high-resolution optical, and infrared payloads, building an all-day, all-weather, and full-domain observation capability. Relying on advanced networking algorithms and orbital coordination technology, it achieves global minute-level revisit and second-level response for key areas, solving the industry pain points of traditional remote sensing such as insufficient timeliness, limited coverage, and single scenarios. The significant expansion of the constellation scale poses higher requirements for on-orbit payload design and satellite system engineering capabilities. The launch of DEX Lab is precisely the R&D support under this strategy.

Notably, Sixiang Technology has a long-standing connection with Shanghai. Previously, the company established Shanghai Sixiang Yueshi Technology Co., Ltd. in the North Bund of Hongkou District, focusing on spatiotemporal data services for the financial and insurance industries. Its AS-02 "Hongkou Fuxing" optical remote sensing satellite was also co-named by Shanghai Fuxing High School and the Hongkou District Youth Activity Center. In addition, Sixiang Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Information Technology Research Center to explore the "remote sensing + environmental protection + financial services" model.

If the layout in Hongkou leans towards application and market ends, the establishment of the Songjiang Canxing company and DEX Lab elevates Shanghai's role in the company's blueprint to an R&D hub. In recent years, Songjiang District has continuously exerted efforts in the fields of commercial aerospace and satellite internet, and Dongjing Town is also accelerating the aggregation of related scientific and technological innovation resources. For Sixiang Technology, establishing a foothold in Songjiang can, on the one hand, leverage Shanghai's advantages in aerospace talents and industrial chain support, and on the other hand, form a dual-center pattern of "Beijing headquarters + Shanghai R&D" with the Beijing headquarters.

Behind the intensive regional layout and constellation expansion lies continuous capital support. Over the nine years since its establishment, Sixiang Technology has completed multiple rounds of financing. Investors have extended from early-stage VCs to industrial funds, with capital endorsement continuously strengthening. In 2019, the company received angel round investment from Zhengxuan Investment; in 2021, it successively completed Pre-A and Pre-A+ round financing, with investors including CAS Star, Jinke Junchuang, and the lead investor C&D Emerging Investment and other institutions; in November 2022, the company completed a Series A financing of tens of millions of CNY, led by Beihang Investment, with the funds mainly used for satellite R&D and general product finalization.

Afterwards, Sixiang Technology sequentially introduced institutions such as Jiuzhao Investment and Renjun Capital. At the end of 2025, the Beijing Commercial Aerospace and Low-Altitude Economy Industrial Investment Fund joined in; in April 2026, the company completed a new round of financing from Renyi Capital, and its registered capital was subsequently increased to CNY 32.3389 million.

Since the beginning of this year, the company's pace of external investment has significantly accelerated—establishing Ningbo Sixiang Lingfeng Technology Co., Ltd. in July and Shanghai Sixiang Canxing Technology Co., Ltd. in August. Coupled with previous branches in Chengdu, Zhuhai, Altay, and other regions, a nationalized infrastructure and service network is being rolled out.

For a company that started from remote sensing data applications, the establishment of the Shanghai Canxing company is not just an ordinary regional expansion. It signifies that Sixiang Technology is transforming from a "satellite data service provider" to a "constellation operator with on-orbit R&D capabilities," and Shanghai is becoming a crucial move in this transformation.
