Beken: What Is Its Relationship with Broadcom?

by caoshuncheng·August 27, 2026

In the semiconductor industry, naming is somewhat of an art. Some companies are low-key and pragmatic, while others reveal extraordinary ambitions from the very beginning. Beken Corporation is exactly such a company that sparks imagination right from its name.

What exactly is its relationship with Broadcom, the global communications semiconductor giant? When eefocus disassembled a Xiaomi karaoke microphone, a Xiaomi walkie-talkie, and an AI toy named "Fuzai", and saw the Beken logo prominently printed on their core chips, this question became worth exploring in depth.

This "Beken" Is Not "Broadcom"

First, a fact needs to be clarified: Beken Corporation has no equity or affiliation relationship with Broadcom Inc. in the United States.

This is a genuine local Chinese IC (Integrated Circuit) design company, headquartered in Zhangjiang, Shanghai, and founded in 2004. The founder, Dr. Pengfei Zhang, graduated from Tsinghua University and furthered his studies at UCLA, representing a typical returnee technical entrepreneur. As early as 2018, media outlets explicitly pointed out that many people might assume a close connection between Beken and Broadcom based on the name, but this is not the case; the two are completely unrelated.

So, what exactly is the background of Beken? It is one of the earliest companies in China to develop ETC chips. In the era when long queues were common at highway toll stations, Beken's ETC chip solutions once dominated the mainstream market. The company's early client list included domestic technology pioneers like DJI and Rapoo, as well as international brands such as LG and Philips, demonstrating its solid technical foundation.

Teardown Reveals the True Strength

The core advantage of the BK32881 lies in its audio processing capabilities. It integrates a BA22 32-bit MCU (Microcontroller Unit) (up to 200MHz) and a high-performance DSP (Digital Signal Processor) running up to 300MHz.

In the karaoke microphone, the core value of the BK32881 is reflected in: supporting sampling rates from 8kHz to 384kHz to ensure Hi-Fi-level audio quality for recording and playback; utilizing a professional DSP combined with algorithms such as active noise cancellation, array microphone noise reduction, and acoustic echo cancellation to make vocals clearer and cleaner during karaoke; and enabling a wireless microphone solution with latency as low as 10ms, ensuring a real-time experience of "what you see is what you sing."

  • Xiaomi Walkie-Talkie: Dedicated RF Transceiver — BK4819

The Xiaomi Walkie-Talkie is designed for scenarios such as hotel management, construction site collaboration, and outdoor activities, which demand extremely high RF performance and anti-interference capabilities. Its core receiving and transmitting circuits adopt Beken's BK4819, a half-duplex TDD (Time Division Duplex) FM transceiver.

The RF coverage capability of the BK4819 is quite impressive: its operating frequency range covers 18MHz to 620MHz and 840MHz to 1200MHz, adapting to global personal radio band requirements; it supports 12.5/25/6.25/20kHz channel spacing, complying with professional walkie-talkie standards such as FRS and DPMR; it features a built-in 7dBm RF power amplifier, requiring only a few peripheral decoupling capacitors and matching inductors to operate, significantly simplifying RF design; it also integrates rich signaling including an on-chip FSK data modem, CTCSS audio receiver, programmable DCS codes, DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency), and SELCALL single tone, meeting the complex signaling needs of professional walkie-talkies.

In the walkie-talkie, the BK4819, paired with an external RF power amplifier, forms a complete transmitting and receiving chain, serving as the core guarantee for the device's communication capabilities.

  • "Fuzai" AI Toy: Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth Dual-Mode SoC — BK7258QN886

As an emotional companion robot with monthly sales exceeding 10,000 units, the core demand for "Fuzai" is stable connectivity, real-time interaction, and low-power standby. Its main control chip is precisely Beken's BK7258QN886.

The BK7258 is a highly integrated Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4 dual-mode SoC. It internally integrates an Arm v8-M STAR-MC1 MCU running up to 480MHz, featuring powerful audio and video processing capabilities, supporting JPEG codec and H.264 encoding, and even capable of driving dual or triple camera inputs.

In the AI toy "Fuzai", this chip plays an absolute central role: it provides 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 6 connectivity to ensure low-latency data interaction with cloud-based large models for highly empathetic conversations, while supporting Bluetooth 5.4 for local network configuration; the 480MHz clock frequency is sufficient to support edge-side processing such as screen display, audio capture, and playback, eliminating the need to rely entirely on cloud computing power; as a battery-powered device, its active power consumption is below 120uA, ensuring a long battery life experience.

Comparing these three chips from the aforementioned three products, Beken's technological layout becomes clearly visible. The BK32881 specializes in Bluetooth audio, featuring a 200MHz RISC MCU plus a 300MHz DSP, and a 96dB ADC plus a 102dB DAC, providing professional-grade audio quality experiences in audio products such as wireless microphones, Bluetooth headsets, and karaoke devices. The BK4819 delves deep into professional RF communication, offering ultra-wideband coverage from 18MHz to 1200MHz, coupled with comprehensive narrowband signaling support, securing a place in professional communication equipment like walkie-talkies and industrial remote controls.
