Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen: Good morning.
各位来宾，女士们、先生们：上午好。
I’m once again truly honored to participate in this prestigious event. The Boao Forum highlights China’s role in holding together a globalized economy in these eventful times. And this year the Forum contemplates how the economy will develop in a world that still bears the scars of COVID.
我非常荣幸再次出席博鳌亚洲论坛年会。在这个局势复杂多变的时代, 论坛彰显了中国在维护经济全球化方面发挥的重要作用。今年年会将着重探讨饱受新冠疫情创伤的世界经济将何去何从。
Let me preface my remarks by stating how fortunate I am to be in charge of a world-class, diversified chemical company—SABIC—that is headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The reason is that the country’s wise leaders have a compelling vision for economic development and our shared future on this planet.
我非常幸运能够领导沙特基础工业公司这样一家总部位于沙特的国际知名多元化化工企业。这是因为：具有远见卓识的沙特国家领导人为实现经济发展、缔造人类共同未来描绘了壮美的蓝图。
Their vision was recently manifested by the Saudi Green Initiative, which maps out a development path to meet the needs of the future without compromising present needs. It does this by respecting the principles of sustainability while aiming for carbon neutrality through circular carbon economy frame work. During Saudi green initiative, we announced our carbon neutrality strategy including our commitment to reduce our greenhouse gas emission by 2030 worldwide by 20% compared to 2018.
沙特领导人对未来的愿景，也充分体现在最近出台的“沙特绿色倡议”中，该倡议提出了一条同时兼顾当今与未来需求的发展道路，即恪守可持续原则，致力于通过碳循环经济的框架实现碳中和目标。在“沙特绿色倡议”中，沙特基础工业公司也宣布了我们的碳中和战略，并承诺到2030年将公司全球温室气体排放量减少20%（以2018年为基准）。
China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Long-Range Objectives not only lay a solid foundation for sustainable development but also specify “30-60” decarbonization goals. These provide a framework within SABIC which can strengthen its in-country partnerships, that include a joint venture with a just-commissioned polycarbonate plant in Tianjin and a just-licensed joint venture for a proposed petrochemical complex in Fujian.
中国“十四五”发展规划和2035年远景目标为实现可持续发展奠定了坚实基础，并明确了2030年前实现碳达峰及2060年前实现碳中和的目标。得益于中国的发展规划，沙特基础工业公司正积极扩大在中国的投资合作。例如：在天津，我们的合资公司新建的聚碳酸酯工厂已于近期试车成功。在福建，我们新成立了一家合资企业，以推进计划中的石化联合体项目。
I can easily imagine major projects in other industries coming together under other far-sighted economic-development programs, such as China’s Belt-and-Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
不难想象，在中国“一带一路”倡议和“沙特2030愿景”等长远经济发展计划的引领下，各行各业的凝聚力将进一步得到加强，进而孕育出更多重大项目。
As the sole featured speaker representing the international business community, I take it as my responsibility to speak on its behalf. And I believe the consensus view of my peers is that the best way to create long-term value and spread well-being throughout the world is to respond to climate change under the umbrella of sustainable development.
作为今天的企业界发言代表，我有责任在这里为国际企业家们发声。我相信，我和我的同事们都有这样一个共识：秉持可持续发展理念、应对气候变化，是创造长期价值并造福全世界的最佳方式。
This won’t be easy or quick. Energy-based value chains require a lot of time and effort to transform. Together, public and private sectors must “re globalize” the world economy to establish not only alternative energy sources but also new markets and diversified supply chains.
这绝非易事，也不可能一蹴而就。实现以能源为基础的产业链转型，需要投入大量时间和精力。公共部门和私营部门必须携起手来，推动世界经济的“再全球化”，在开发可替代能源的同时，开拓新的市场并建立多元化的供应链。
But I’m convinced that, through the spirit of collaboration, we can overcome the biggest of challenges. It is what enabled us to get through the worst of the COVID pandemic. And it is the basis on which to build a cohesive, inclusive and prosperous world.
我相信，只要秉持协作精神，哪怕是最艰巨的挑战，最终也会被我们克服。正是协作精神，帮助我们度过了新冠疫情最艰难的时刻；也正是协作精神，将最终带领我们实现一个团结、包容和繁荣的世界。
And with that parting thought, I wish this year’s Boao Forum great success.
